Dental Prosthtics - Fangs

Live Action FX have the facilities, materials and skills to make custom fangs or other prosthetic denures for film, theatre or just for fun!

Our dentures are not designed for perminant use and are certainly not for eating with.

They are only meant to be used for effect, where they might be worn for an hour or two, we have had clients who have worn them for 48 hours long events, however we do not recommend this.

Each set of dentures is built on a cast of the clients own teeth and gums, so that it fits them perfectly, it is very unlikely that they will fit anyone else.

A pair of simple custom made fangs can be made for approx. £100, which includes taking the initial mould of the clients teeth and gums, building and shaping the fangs, casting them in dental acrylic, colour matching them to the clients teeth and final polishing.

The following are two examples where our fangs have been used for vampire productions:

"Witchcraft X: Mistress of the Craft"

Armadillo Films Ltd.

From the script breakdown we identified five vampiric characters that would appear on screen more often that the other 12 or so creatures of the night.

We took dental impressions from the four lead Vampire actors, from these we created dental casts onto which we'd be able to build custom made dentures that would be comfortable and with which the actors could speak without a lisp (with a little practise).

Towards the end of the film the male anti-hero carries out a human sacrifice as he summons the element of fire. The script called for an explosion/ball of fire in the background.

After discussions with the director this was changed to a number of six to eight foot tall columns of flame that burst upwards as the sacrificial knife slits the victims throat.

The original draft of the script has the heroine ripping the heart out of the chief Vampire and impaling it on a rusty nail.

We managed to convince the director that a slightly different approach would be better. The heart is ripped out as originally planned, the heroine concentrates on it causing it to burst into flames.

The burning heart then falls to the floor and explodes - signalling the demise of it's owner.

No vampire film would be complete without the gratuitous use of wooden stakes, which we cut from some 1X1 sawn timber.

Obviously these can't be used directly on an actor, so various armour plates were used along with a number of rubber stakes that matched the real wooden ones.

These were used for long shots showing the face and body of the victim as the stake first hits them. A cut-away was then edited in featuring a fake torso fitted with blood bags for close ups of the various stakings.

Fangs for Vampiryia II

Dark Angle Productions

After our work on "Mistress of the Craft", we were contacted by Louis Ravensfield, who asked us to make three sets of vampire fangs for use in publicising and during the 'Vampyria II' theatre event that Dark Angle Productions.

The fangs were designed and built to be larger and less subtile than our usual work, this was to assist in making them show up clearly when used on stage.

Just after completing the work, save for final fitting adjustments, Louis called, saying that Eilene Daily, one of actresses we'd built the fangs for needed them urgently for a photo shoot.

The shoot was for the front cover of "Bazzare" magazine, who were doing a special feature on the latest productions from Manga Entertainment, the main one being "Razorblade Smile" a live action vampire film that Eilene had starred in.
